If you assume you are not sentient, then yeah, you basically die. But still, what do you want to be your legacy? What do you want one more of in the word. A bean or a pea? I'd pick pea, because they are tastier.

If you are sentient and keep your mind its even more interesting. Would you rather be a bean or a pea. In this case I think a bean is better because you aren't trapped in a dark pod.
