The government welfare program would be more consistent and reliable, and it wouldn't be "begging" per se - it's just a routine part of the social contract that you yourself helped pay for when you had more income. I'd go for that.

at least when you beg for money, your making an active effort to receive money. whereas government welfare... you can sit on your ass and get paid for it, my common decency won't allow to ever make that choice

@Themisfitjoe but you don't *have* to just sit on your ass, you can go out and look for a job while using welfare to support yourself in the interim. And you'd be more likely to succeed in that job hunt than if you had to spend your time begging too.
